Fall 2002

A “real” newsletter will follow next month

Finances

Great job!!! It looked like we would come up short this year but you “came to the rescue” with an all-time record 4th quarter ($46,000). We paid all the bills for the 26th consecutive year AND puts some $’s in the Robert Cullen Endowment Fund.

This was a tough financial year for everyone. But unlike other teams on campus we must raise all operating expense tough year or not. We did it thanks to a loyal, generous alumni/friends group unlike any on campus.

Future Finances

We have a great group of alums actively planning a capital campaign for our program. Yours truly is not getting any younger and it seems prudent to get the “team portion” of the program endowed. We will always have to raise the funds necessary for our alumni events, should my successor choose to continue them. But the costs for equipment, travel and office expense must be forthcoming every year as that is our agreement with Cornell University. Putting this fund raising effort on the “new guy” is not a realistic plan.

Website

We have entered the new millennium, “kicking and screaming in my case” with an A #1 web site. Many thanks to Ted Erkkila ’97 for the work, he did it all, and he actually paid the $’s out of his pocket. A great job by the former D-Lineman.

JUNE 2002 Reunion

A real good time. Good turnout for the 4th annual “beer tent” in front of Schoellkopf Hall. The class of 1952 was represented by a large contingent of former players and friends for their 50th.
